Superintendent Search Service

Selecting a superintendent of education is one of the most important functions of a local board of education. As a service to its members, the Mississippi School Boards Association (MSBA) launched a fee-based superintendent search service in 2006. The MSBA Superintendent Search Service is one of the tools MSBA provides to local boards of education as a resource to effectively and productively govern their districts.

To date, MSBA has conducted approximately 120 superintendent searches statewide, ranging from school districts as large as 30,000 students to school districts as small as 600 students.

While MSBA assists school boards with the process, ultimately the school board:

  • Determines who will be interviewed by the Board.
  • Votes to hire the superintendent whom the Board determines will meet the needs of the school district.

Boards interested in the MSBA Superintendent Search Service should contact Dr. Tommye Henderson, Superintendent Search Manager, at thenderson@msbaonline.org.
